Frank Kretzschmar is a co-founder of the Global Resiliency Network (2003–2013). Consultants from Germany, the UK, Sweden, South Africa and Denmark, with offices around the world, have set themselves the aim of promoting this understanding of organisations’ core competence. ‘Resilience’ refers to the ability of individuals, organisations and nations to survive amidst ongoing change, abrupt shifts and unforeseen events. Anticipating change and maintaining balance and focus in the face of reorganisations, mergers and other deviations from routine is a crucial competitive advantage in the unpredictable market of the 21st century. This requires leaders who harness their adaptability to serve the organisation’s objectives.
