About Frank
Frank Kretzschmar is the founder and owner of Stepwise Management and has worked internationally for more than thirty years as an industrial and organisational psychologist in organisational development and change management. Before founding Stepwise Management, he held senior HR and leadership roles and worked as a consultant in organisational development.
He supports clients in Africa, Europe and Asia to stay effective and successful despite continuous and unexpected disruptive change, sharpening their strategic alignment and execution. With vigilant and far‑seeing expertise, he develops and shares astute, practical concepts in organisational development and change management through training, consultancy and coaching, typically around strategic alignment and conflict and crisis management.

Our Attitude & Beliefs
Leadership is about attitude
Not a method, not a tool, not a framework. What counts is personality, integrity and the courage to really listen.
Change requires genuine dialogue
Storytelling and generative dialogue are not means to an end – they are the method itself. People change through telling and listening to stories.
Africa is a source of learning
Since 2004, Frank has been bringing African leadership wisdom to European companies – and European leaders to Africa.
Impact is reflected in the figures
Equity Bank Kenya grew from 252,000 to 413,000 customers. FMBcapital doubled its balance sheet total and quadrupled its profit after tax – in four years, across five countries.
